End of Year Reflections

31 December 2014

Dear 2014,

Thank you for accepting me and allowing me to grow into the women I am today. I have learnt a great deal in this one year than I have in any another and for that I am thankful.
You will be missed.
I will never forget the fun we have had but for now it's goodbye.

Michelle

I've been thinking how to word this post exactly as this year has been one of the most testing yet best years of my life... and I say that with NO exaggeration.

After mourning the loss of a toxic relationship in 2012/2013 I made it my mission to be a better individual to myself and love myself unconditionally.

The year started off with a bang celebrating with all my loved ones and from there the year has become one massive party... literally.
2014 definitely taught me how to go for what I want in life and not to take NO for an answer.
I've become more responsive and understanding to other peoples feelings whereas in the past I was very naive to situations and often didn't give people the benefit of the doubt - That's the mean girl in me. :(
I've also learnt not be walked over.
I know this is a contradiction of the above but I've let a lot of things slide in the past and it became habit to say YES to people rather than NO.

It hasn't been an 'all win' kind of year. I've lost a few close friends that have been very dear to my heart.
But it was for the best.
Reflecting on friendships has been one of the hardest battles I have fought this year. When you see friends become destructive you have no choice but to exclude yourself and that's what I had to do.
It has also been a very selfish year for me.
I have LIVED how I have wanted to live and LOVED how I wanted to love - but unfortunately some of my 'friends' couldn't accept my selfishness to MYSELF hence why we parted ways.

One of the best things that has happened to me this year has to be finding my feet in the media industry. When I graduated from University I was lucky to be able to get a job in media however, I was still very green and not sure if this was what I wanted to do. This year I have jumped from job to job and even dabbled in Freelancing but now I have found somewhere, where I can grow and most importantly LEARN.

But without a doubt THE best thing to come out of 2014 is finding love again.

****

I have been feeling in the last few months that I want to change it up on the blog. I love the fashion posts and enjoying showing you guys my personal style but when I wrote 'My Truth: My 20s' I never knew how much I would enjoy writing such a meaningful post and I think I want to start writing more on VK. Now that's not to say that I won't be posting Personal Style because lord knows I love to shop and pose! But if 2014 has taught me anything it's to be myself and be more open.

Happy New Year peoples! I hope you all have an amazing 2015!

A Touch of Beige

16 December 2014

We celebrated my friend's birthday this weekend at an all you can eat Chinese/Thai restaurant in Cheam. I promise you we ate so much food I was still full the next day.
I'm currently suffering from pregnant belly as I type.
The restaurant isn't like your bog standard all you can eat buffet. It's more like order as much as you like. So the food is freshly prepared and served to you.

Even though the weather was cold as a bitch I still wanted to get the legs out. So I opted for this cute midi skirt that I picked up from the Voucher Codes Blogger Swap shop.
It's perfect to dress up and down and this occasion I dressed it down with my denim boyfriend shirt and black ASOS ankle boots.

Right Now
... I wish I was in my bed.

This Week
Back in the gym! Hooray! After a one month hiatus I've finally dragged myself back. I have put on an insane amount of weight and it's super depressing. I know I always rant about how I feel fat and I've put on so much weight but when you start to feel depressed everytime you put on clothes you will understand.

Looking Forward To
Christmas!
This weekend we are starting the festivities! Last year I hosted Secret Santa for my closest friends and due to the success we are doing it again this year.
I haven't requested anything crazy this year as I feel like I've got everything I need. So I've asked everyone who is getting me presents and my secret santa to get me amazon vouchers so I can buy a new lens for my Canon. Originally I was looking at the 24-105mm lens but I would rather a prime wide angle lens like a 24mm, 28mm or 35mm... so I'm saving!

#Nextmaswishlist

8 December 2014

I haven't done a wishlist in the longest! So when Alice from Spreading Jam PR contacted me about the #NextMasWishlist competition I was all over it like a rash.

Firstly I have been lusting over the Celine pointed loafers for sometime now but trying to find the right dupe hasn't been easy. I came across these and these next last month and they have been on my saved list for sometime now so they definitely had to be added to my list!

I'm also in desperate need of a new leather jacket. I've had my Topshop one for 3 years and it's served me well. It's still managed to remain perfect although I'm on the hunt for a replacement and this quilted one from Next will do perfectly.

I've made a conscious decision to be at home more and make my house as comfortable as possible so I never want to leave and go to my mums. With that being said I'm redecorating my house starting with my front room and I reckon that this silver mirror will look just the part hanging above my TV.

Christmas is all about family and spending time with your loved ones. This year I decided to host Christmas at my house - I'm hosting for 12 people and I'm literary freaking out! It's definitely going to be a challenge as I've never catered for so many people but I'm looking forward to being around my family and friends. This Next 12 piece dinner set will make my Christmas that oh so much christ-massy!

Lastly I can't forget this cosy grey robe and white fur collar. It's been so cold lately that these will surely help me tackle those cold mornings and nights!

What do you guys think of my list and what are your faves?

Adidas Superstars

2 December 2014

If there's one thing that I've been influenced to purchase from bloggers it has to be trainers.
I'm not a trainer girl by a long shot. I left them behind when I got into my late teens.
But recently they've been pretty cool to have as a grown up.

I've been seeing the Adidas Superstars and Stan Smiths all over the blogsphere and tried my hardest not to give in but when I tried on these bad boys in Schuh they won me over.

I never realised how easy it to style them. You can literally wear them with anything and still look cool - in an older cool adult way.

Right Now
Trying to remain cool... Cool as friggin' ice baby.

This Week
Slightly crazy but nothing I can't handle! It was my son's 11th birthday on the 1st so we had a little celebration. He wanted a DSLR like mine so he could film and take pictures so I surprised him with a Panasonic Lumix.
A mini me in the making maybe?

Looking Forward To
Christmas!
I'm loving all the Christmas decorations and the festive spirit. I've managed to buy all my presents and even put up my tree on the weekend. So now I'm going to sit back and relax.

Throwback... On a Sunday?

23 November 2014

Admittedly I've been a bad blogger.
For the past two weeks I haven't shot any new content nor have I had the desire too.
The colder days makes me want to hibernate and stay in bed. The weekdays seem so long that all the weekend makes me want to do is concentrate on everything else except putting outfits together, finding locations and shooting.
And that's not to say I haven't had anything new to shoot as ASOS have seen me one too may times in the past two weeks...

I've just simply slipped into bad blogger mode.

This morning prompted me to dig into my archives and un-posted shoots and I stumbled across this beaut of an outfit.
I bought this for Ceremony Festival in September but never got around to blogging it.
Such a shame as this is the first co-ord that I have ever liked and complimented me well.

This co-ord is perfect for the festival season, I love the detail and the tasselling - not too heavy.
This is definitely an outfit that will be making another appearance next year.

But for now... Enjoy my Throwback.

Right Now
Currently watching Batman Begins.
I've watched so many films this week starring Christian Bale and I've never realised how amazing an actor he is. He is definitely one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood.
I can't wait to watch him in, Exodus: Gods and Kings which is out next month.

This Week
Busy as per. I honestly have nothing to report as my life pretty much consists of:
Work - Home - Sleep and Repeat.

Looking Forward To
Celebrating my son's 11th Birthday next weekend. I can't believe my little baby is growing so quick! It's scary to know that I have a little man and this time next year he will in secondary school! Yikes!

Voucher Codes Blogger Swap Shop

15 November 2014

Voucher Codes have done it again!

I was invited to another Voucher Codes Swap Shop party last Monday by the lovely Fleur - It was such a great event to be a part of again.
I thoroughly enjoyed the last one (see here) so when the invite popped up in my inbox I RVSP'd in 2.5 seconds!
Leading up to the event, Voucher Codes gave us lovely instagramers a sneak peak of what was on offer. I had my eye on the cleated knee high ASOS boots and a Moschino belt but I knew that I would be out of luck as the benefits of not working in Central London anymore means that events like this are no longer on your doorstep and more like a train, tube and bus ride away.

The Voucher Codes Swap Shop came at the perfect time for me as I had so many items in my wardrobe that I wanted to get rid of but felt like they were to nice to to sell at the car boot sale (if you do car booty's you would understand - I end up selling amazing items for 1p!) and my Depop has had no action for the past two months.

****

I arrived around 7.30-8pm so most of the desirable items were gone.
However I did manage to find a remarkable gold metallic midi skirt from Dorothy Perkins, a black sheer peplum top and a cute denim shift dress from Warehouse.
Pretty happy with my swaps and hopefully I'll blog them soon!

It was great catching up with my girl Shanika who blogs at Shanika Says and her friend and fellow blogger Natalie who blogs over at Sand and Sugar always laughs and smiles when she's around!

The highlight of the evening was the amazing mac and cheese. Although I'm lactose Intolerant I didn't care about the after effects! Cocktails where following and I may have had one too many as by the end of the night everything seemed to be a little blurry...

Thank you for such a fun evening Voucher Codes!

Grey Moments

12 November 2014

Grey moments are in-betweener moments.
You don't necessarily feel happy or sad but some what in-between.
The stage before you either freak out or get over it.

Some of my Grey Moments

****

When I order a Gin and Tonic and the bartender pours 1 shot of gin and the entire bottle of tonic

When I've worked out at the gym for a whole week yet the scales doesn't vindicate this

When I'm getting ready for the day ahead and I look out my window and it's super sunny, but as soon as I step out side its a bloody hailstorm

When the hot guy you've been eying all night finally talks to you - but before he gives you his number he mentions that he may have a girlfriend... side piece or nah?

When one side of my hair is looking hella cool yet the other side doesn't want to agree

When you have nothing to do all day at work then suddenly at the last hour the workflow gets crazy

My entire existence...

****

This outfit is pretty much a grey moment.
Although it oozes grey on the outside - inside I'm slightly in-between yay or nay.

I love this Roll Neck Cape from ASOS - so comfy and perfect for this gust of coldness that has been sprung upon us - yet I feel slightly huge and almost pregnant looking from certain angles.
No sympathy comments please.
I adore my Joni high-waisted skinny's from Topshop - yet since piling on the weight they almost look spray on.
So what I'm getting at is that I love this outfit - just not on me.

I know what you're thinking... that coat again...

White Bish

3 November 2014

I remember my first pair of white jeans like it was yesterday
I must have been 8 or 9.
They were Diesel. My first white jeans as well as my first designer item.
I have no idea where my mum got them from but they were definitely second hand.
I LIVED in them.
I went to Easter Camp one year and we were participating in an activity which involved us writing with permanent marker pens. I opened up a black permanent maker excited to join in on the fun and "BLAM!" all the ink splattered all over my beloved white Diesel jeans.

If I had my reinvention hat on I could have brought them back to life and made them into a work of art.
But instead I cried like a bitch.

These white mom jeans are pretty much insane.
Not just because they are mom jeans, ripped and white but because I managed to pick them up for £5 in the Berska summer sale a few months back... Score or what?!

Coat - Forever21 | Jumper - H&M | Jeans - Berska | Shoes - Missguided

Right Now
Trying to finish off my Christmas Shopping. I have managed to get 2 thirds of my gifts purchased. whoohoo! I'm struggling with something for my Sister and God Children... recommendations welcome!

This Week
If you follow me on Instagram you will see that I celebrated Halloween on Friday. Not so much the scary part more the fancy dress part.
I used to go trick n' treating as a child (without my mums permission) and I do take my son now that he is old enough - but this was the first time I fully embraced it and dressed up.

Looking Forward To
The Weekend... UGH... Its only Monday!

The Watch Hut

31 October 2014

Last night I attended The Watch Hut Blogger party at their Covent Garden storee and I have to say it was an absolute treat!

I dragged the Man along to indulge in some blogger loving - to be honest I think he had more fun than me!
They presented us with Champagne and Prosecco on arrival and loads of lovely cupcakes!

The party started at 6pm but as I was coming from work we got there an hour late missing Kiera's (Buyer for The Watch Hut) presentation.
She still managed to talk us through each A/W trend showing us some breathtaking collections from astonishing designers such as Marc Jacobs, Vivienne Westwood and Armani to name a few.

I instantly fell in love with the Olivia Burton Big Dial watch in forest green and gold. Perfect for Autumn and is such a timeless piece that will never go out of style.

The Watch Hut have some great arm candy for this season - Just in time to pop down and get some impressive gifts for Christmas!

Just in case anyone wanted to purchase some TIME-less arm candy (see what I did there) then here's a hint: The Watch Hut (click)

Thanks you to The Watch Hut for having us!
